Fox Elms House in the South of England is a large detached house set within 6.75 acres of land. When we found this property, we could see it needed some care and attention to bring it up to standard, but it was also a sizeable property with a lot of potential.
Working with our partners, we implemented a comprehensive refurbishment to give Fox Elms House an overhaul. The plan was to transform the building, making it suitable for eight people to call it home, with improved accessibility throughout.
Refurbishing Fox Elms House
An extensive array of work was undertaken at Fox Elms House, from minor structural remodelling, to reskimming internal walls and external repointing. We were also required to urgently reroof the main building, with extensive decoration throughout.
New internal partitions were installed, ramps were fitted to all exits, and windows and doors were replaced. Kitchens and bathrooms benefited from an extensive overhaul including new fittings, with floorings replaced throughout via a mix of carpets and vinyl flooring.
Safety was improved with the installation of fire doors, smoke detectors in bedrooms, and heat detectors in kitchens.
As part of the programme of works, an existing entrance was also reconstructed at the front of the house, creating a standout feature.

Externally, steps to the lower garden embankment were rebuilt, new fencing was installed, and a collapsed pergola was removed. Paving was reinstated, handrails were installed to the rear garden steps, and a one-meter wide walkway was created around the building, to provide wheelchair users with access across the grounds.
Fox Elms House transformed
Fox Elms House required a significant refurbishment, but the results speak for themselves. What was once a building that needed some urgent attention is once again a beautiful home for life for eight people.
